A lot of homeowners hear that fall and winter are the worst times to sell. I’ve even heard real estate agents say that won’t list homes in the fall and winter because “nothing sells, it will linger on the market, there are no buyers, etc.” This terrible advice causes homeowners to spend thousands of extra dollars on their current mortgage that they could be putting into a new home.
First, let me tell you that any buyer who is willing to go out in the snow, ice, and freezing cold is DEAD serious about buying a home. A lot of buyers need to purchase before the new year because they have leases ending soon. They are in a time crunch and need to buy now or be forced into another 6-12 month lease.
We’ve been experiencing low inventory levels all year and because many sellers are talked out of listing during the fall and winter, inventory drops even lower. What this means for you as a seller, less competition! In addition to the time crunch most of these buyers are in, they have fewer homes to choose from, why not choose yours?
Off season? I think not! While the storms are brewing outside, this perfect storm for sellers is also forming. Don’t miss it!
